The Caring Communities Initiative is holding a community awareness event tonight. The event will focus on the dangers of synthetic drugs, specifically synthetic marijuana, which is sold legally in Iowa, despite some types being outlawed.
Kelly Galiher, Student and Parent Advocate for the Mid-Prairie School District, says there will be presentations from law enforcement officials and parents who have seen the dangers of the drug first hand.
5th graders through adults in any school district are welcome to attend. The event at 7 is being held at the Parkside Activity Center in Wellman.
