Corn Planting Gets Late Start

Initially stalled by cool, wet weather, farmers have been able to utilize some nice days to make up for lost time. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa’s farmers have planted a good portion of this year’s corn crop. Washington County farmer Dave Skubal says there are options for those who haven’t been able to start yet.  He says farmers can switch to beans or a forage crop. Also, federal crop insurance covers prevented planting.
