The Washington baseball versus softball scrimmage was last night, and the baseball team got the better of the softball team 5-0.

The baseball team got a lead early off of three errors in the first to go up 3-0, and then scored a couple more in the second inning.

Ashley Rausch for the softball team did strikeout some of the baseball players, and was very excited that what happened last year didn’t happen.

“That doesn’t happen very often, and last year I got a home run hit off of me, and no one hit a homerun off of me, so it was a pretty good year,” Rausch

Returning starter at third base Joni Erwin had a couple of hits for the softball team, which excited the crowd, and head coach Angie Shrader.

“Anytime a boy can swing and miss at a ball, it always excites the crowd, and the girls getting some hits off the baseball players, it’s always a fun thing for the kids and they look forward to it every year, and it’s nice for Joni as a senior to have those hits and to be able to produce it was fun,” Shrader said.

Now that the scrimmage is over, it’s time to get down to business, as the softball team will kick off their season on Monday against Columbus Junction, and you can hear our first live broadcast of the summer with pregame at 7, and first pitch at 7:30 only on the one to count on for today’s local sports coverage AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
