The Washington Demon baseball team starts off the season tonight at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont.
The Demons are looking to rebuild a team that saw a lot of graduation take players like Colin Steele, Jared Henry, Austin Knupp, TJ Rausch and Jake Redlinger, all key players to last years state run.
The Demon’s will need to look for a solid pitcher to be able to carry a heavy work load for the season, or as head coach Nathan Miller said, it could be a larger pitching rotation this year for the Demons.
Washington does bring back Tanner Knupp, Walker Breard and Elijah Wood who were sitting 4-6 on the best of the offense. As for pitching, Wood and Jacob Green return, and will get the nod a few more times this season.
Eddieville-Blakesburg-Freemont brings back a handful of throwing power, including Christian Bambrook who went 7-2 with a 1.79 ERA. Offensively they lose five of their six top bats, but Bambrook will be the best batter returning to the team.
