The Washington Demon baseball team won their home and season opener last night 4-2 over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont.

Both team’s put up a couple in the first half of the game, with Washington doing it with a couple runs in one inning and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont doing it with solo runs in a couple of innings.

Tanner Knupp started the game for Washington, before Elijah Wood entered in relief. Wood held the opponents scoreless in his relief outing, while the offense went to work, and scored two runs in the fifth off of a base hit by Jacob Green that turned into a triple, and a sacrifice fly by Walker Breard that gave him his second RBI of the night.

Washington moves to 1-0 on the season, and will be in action tomorrow at the Cedar Rapids Kernals stadium to take on Highland. That game can be heard on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
