Rainfall Leaves Fields Too Wet for Planting

Wet fields are delaying corn planting in Washington County. Dave Skubal, who farms 700 acres on the east side of the county, says the recent rainfall has replenished the subsoil, but adds its left fields too muddy to work in. He explains bringing equipment out now would cause soil compaction, which effects plant growth. He shares they’ll wait until the end of the month before they start considering short season hybrids.
