The state track and field meet finished up day two yesterday, and here are the results from the 1A grouping.
In the field events, Lou Krieger-Coen of WMU got seventh in the discus with a throw of 111’6”, in the high jump Highland’s Sam Dutton was third at 5’2”, and in the boy’s high jump, Kevin Anderson of WACO was the running up at 6’2”, while Bryan Forbes of Lone Tree was eighth at 6’, and Sigourney’s Brandon Sturhr was 17th at 5’10”.
Anderson talked after his jump, about how it felt to be state runner-up.
“It was beautiful weather, and I thought I had (the championship), but some guy came back after he ran and won it,” Anderson said.”
In the running events, Sigourney’s Eddie Conrad was 12th in the 400 hurdles at 58.29. The Highland boy’s 4×200 finished 20th in 1:35.22, while Lone Tree was 10th in 133.87. The WMU girl’s 4×200 was 18th in 1:52.91, and Highland was 11th in 1:51.21
In the 110 high hurdles, WACO’s Dylan Carlson qualified seventh in 15.67, and in the girl’s 100 hurdles Cassie Kingery posted the fastest qualifying time at 15.76.
In the boy’s distance medley, Sigourney was 14th in 3:48.76, and in the girl’s 4×100 meter relay, Highland was 19th in 53.10, while Lone Tree was 13th in 52.63, in the boy’s 4×100 Lone Tree was 17th in 45.78 and WACO was 11th in 45.10.
The final race was the boy’ 4×400, where WMU was 23rd in 3:40.73, and Lone Tree qualified for the finals in eighth in a 3:34.82.
