As the temperatures rise and summer commences more bugs, including mosquitoes are out and about. Danielle Pettir-Majewski, Washington Public Health Administrator, recommends people avoid breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which includes pooling and stagnant water, which can be found in flower pots, tire swings, and many other common backyard locations.

She also explains that West Nile is contracted only when a mosquito bites an infected bird and then that infected mosquito bites a human – it cannot be contracted from person to person contact.
