“Seeing the outcome we had, it was great. Most of the events that we were hoping would go, did make it, and a couple of the, I don’t, we’re going to try it, and see what happens, they made it and made it pretty easily,” Tschantz said. “It’s just a great thing for our program to get so many kids up to state.”
On the boy’s side of things, Jacob Hennigan is going in the 110 meter high hurdles, Gage Redlinger in the 400 hurdles, and Tommy Peterson will go in the shot put.
In the relays, the shuttle hurdle with Hennigan, Redlinger, Jack Giardino and Alex Gonzalez, the 4×200 with Carl Sivels, Redlinger, Kyle Roder and Alex Coker, and the 4×400 with Redlinger, Hennigan, Noah Lebsack and Coker.
Head boy’s coach Steve Roth said it was just a good meet that they ran, and the kids ran their best when they needed to.
“I didn’t want to put much pressure on the kids because they know what they had to do, but we talked about it and talked about it on what we had to do, and I’m so pleased that we had six or seven personal bests, and out of those six or seven personal bests, five of those got into the state track meet, so that’s all we can do,” Roth said.
State track starts on Thursday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Listen in on Friday, as KCII has live updates throughout the day from the State Track and Field meet.
