Demon Softball Rekindles Last Year’s Rivalry

The Washington Demon softball team goes to Keokuk tonight for their second conference double header.

Washington is 3-1 this season, and has dropped from No. 5 in the state to No. 9.

In the first conference double header Washington took care of business against Fairfield, one of the two teams that pushed hard against the Demons last year in the conference title race, tonight they take on the other who finished just one win behind the Demons.

Washington is hitting .339 as a team, and is led in average by Sammy Ellingson with a .643 average. Stephanie Fishback and Ashley Rausch are leading the team in RBI’s with six each.

Maddie Bohr has a 1-0 record and a .7 ERA with five strikeouts, while Rausch is 2-1 with a 2.06 ERA and 10 strikeouts paired with 10 walks. Regardless who’s pitching, opponents average is a .169 combined for both Washington pitchers.

Keokuk is 0-4 this year with no stats to report.
