The Washington Demon softball team made it to the championship game of the Fairfield tournament this weekend, before dropping a game to the hosts.

On Friday, Washington beat West Burlington 7-6 to advance on to the next round, and face Davis County- Bloomfield.  Davis County put up three runs in the second, while the Demons didn’t get their runs on the board until the fifth, and won it 6-3.

Maddie Bohr was 3-4 on the day, while Addie Shive was 1-3 and Chayse Jaspering was 1-3 both with two RBI’s. Bohr was the starting pitcher and let in two earned runs in 1 2/3 innings of work, then Amber Linnenkamp came in for 3 1/3 and had four hits and no runs, before Ashley Rausch came in for the last inning and threw a strikeout.

In the Championship game, Washington played Fairfield, a team that last week they beat 12-4 and 8-2, but this game Washington’s offense wasn’t found after the first inning, as both the Demons and the Trojans put up two runs in the first, but it was Fairfield who put up two more in the fifth and three in the sixth to win it 7-2.

The Demons had just four hits in the game, and Stephanie Fishback was the only multi-hit player going 2-3. The RBI’s were given to Ashley Rausch and Grace Redlinger. Rausch pitched the first six innings of the game and gave up eight hits, four earned runs, seven walks and six strikeouts.

Washington will have a little time off until Wednesday when they face West Branch at home.
