Today is Flag Day and Our Iowa magazine is selling Iowa flags as a fundraising promotion this summer to benefit Trees Forever and Keep Iowa Beautiful. Iowa’s flag was adopted in 1921 after the state’s Daughters of the American Revolution decided to create on and a winning design was submitted by Dixie Cornell Gebhardt of Knoxville. The flag has an eagle and the state motto: “Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain.” The blue stripe is for loyalty, justice and truth; the white is for purity; and the red is for courage.

An anonymous foundation has agreed to donate $5 for each flag sold. For more information call 515-232-0075 or visit Our Magazine’s website by clicking here.
