Highland and IMS will face off in a superconference softball game tonight heard on AM and FM KCII.
The Huskies are off to one of the hottest starts for area softball teams, with an undefeated conference record, and 7-1 record overall. They are hitting .372, but their on base percentage is a .461, and they are averaging just under 10 runs a game.
Highland is led at the plate by Cheyanne Adamson who has a .526 average and 12 RBI’s on the season. Three other players have averages over .380.
Pitching for Highland is led by Katie Springer, who has had a phenomenal 6-0 start, and 2.21 ERA, just seven walks and 40 strikeouts, while opponents are hitting under .200.
On the IMS side of things they are 3-3 and are coming off a 1-0 loss to Wapello. Laura Hochstetler is the lead bat for IMS with a .500 average and three RBI’s, Casey Perez also has four RBI’s and is slugging .867.
Pitching wise it is all Hochstetler who is also having a stellar start, pitching in all six games, she is 3-3 with a 1.71 ERA, 10 walks, 47 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .208.
