The IMS baseball team hosts WMU tonight in a Southeast Iowa Superconference matchup.

The last time these two teams met, it was WMU who got the best of IMS winning 7-5.

IMS comes into the game 7-12 on the season, winning three of their last four games, and scoring nine runs or more in each of the four games.

The team is hitting .291 at the plate, and is led by Cameron Gingerich with a .441 average and 16 RBI’s on the year. Pitching wise IMS has a team ERA of 4.03 with 129 strikeouts, led by Gingerich as well with a 1.80 ERA, 53 strikeouts and opponents hit just .190 off of him.

For WMU, they are 4-10 this year, and are hitting .220 as a team, led by Darren Hunter with a .342 average and six RBI’s on the year along with a home run. Their pitching staff has a combined 8.16 ERA and opponents are hitting .338 off of them. Their main arm is Travis Jones with a 7.57 ERA and Jacob Arnold with a 8.13 ERA.

WMU head coach Kenton Klopfenstein said tonight and this whole week needs to be inner focus, rather than what their opponent is doing.

“I think for us, it is just a matter of focusing on what we do, making sure that we are making the routine plays and throwing lots of strikes and putting the ball in play, I guess it is more we just have to do what we can do and see what happens,” Klopfenstein said.
