On a damp and cool Tuesday in Winfield it was IMS who stayed hot, throttling the Lady Wolves of Winfield-Mt. Union 10-0 in 6th innings of Southeast Iowa Superconference play. IMS got on the board in every inning but one, and posted big innings with three runs apiece in the third and fourth innings. Offensively IMS pounded out 10 hits. In the circle Laura Hochstetler was brilliant for the second straight outing, taking a perfect game into the 5th, surrendering just two total hits on the night and striking out seven in her second straight complete game shutout. Following the game Head Coach Kim Wood talked about the performance of her Senior ace.

“Hochstetler has thrown two amazing back to back games,” Wood said. “She has thrown strong, she has thrown very few pitches, I don’t even know how many she threw within the first five innings, not very many. Our defense behind her has just been phenominal, she has been so stoic and just unbelieveable, she has come through for us [time and time again].”

At the plate eight of the nine players in the starting line up for IMS tallied hits led by Casey Perez who was three for three with two doubles an RBI and three runs scored. Mackayla Brush was two for three with two driven in and a run scored. IMS is now 3-2 on the young season and will next be in action Thursday night when they travel to Highland.
