A Washington County city and school district continue to look at the benefits of a shared facility. Kalona and Mid-Prairie School District are getting quotes from engineering firms for conceptual design proposals, individually. Once they have the plans they’ll compare and determine if it would make fiscal sense to share a facility. Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says they have overlapping needs, and believes there would be substantial savings if they were to partner.
