The Lone Tree baseball team went down swinging last night to L-M 3-0.

Erik Murry was on the mound and struck out nine and didn’t allow a walk in the game, making it the second multi-strikeout pitching performance since IMS that Lone Tree couldn’t win.

The Lions had just two hits in the game, a double from Ty Robertson and a single from Bryan Forbes.

Lone Tree head coach Steve Gibson said his team just needs some time to practice, rather than games to get better in the batters box.

“We need to practice, with the weather and we had a lot of kids out for track and golf that missed a lot of preseason practice time, so we just need to get some time on the field,” Gibson said. “Next week we have Mediapolis at home Monday and then we don’t play again until Friday so we get Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, so hopefully the weather cooperates and we get some good practice time on the field and kind of get some things ironed out which is what we really need to do right now.”
