A New London man, 27-year-old Ryan Lloyd Peiffer, was taken into custody at about 6 a.m. yesterday morning after a report of a domestic assault. Law enforcement officials received a 911 call from New London at 1:51 a.m. alleging an offender was armed with a handgun. The victim, a 27-year-old female from New London, was transported by personal vehicle to the Henry County Health Center where she was treated and released. Peiffer was found walking in New London around 6 a.m. and told officers where he left the handgun; it was recovered by officers. Peiffer is charged with domestic assault, an aggravated misdemeanor, and other charges are pending.

New London Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Winfield Police Department responded to the scene.
