No. 2 in 3A Mid-Prairie will play No. 2 in 2A Durant tonight in a make up game of softball.

The Golden Hawks are 8-4 this season after taking all four losses to larger schools. They are hitting just .233 as a team, and their best bat is Felicia Schulty with a .400 average, and Taylor Kurtz with a .333 with three RBI’s.

On the pitching staff, it’s Olivia Lugar with a 1.33 ERA, 27 strikeouts and opponents hitting .235 off of her.

Durant is 16-2 this season, and hitting .385 with 12 team homeruns. Ashli Williams leads the way with a .576 average and 10 RBI’s, while Aubrey Bland drives in the runs with her .480 average, 28 RBI’s and three homeruns.

Pitching for Durant is a deadly duo of Anna Bently with an 8-0 record, .88 ERA, 52 K’s and opponents are hitting .168, and Paige Compton who is 7-2, with a 1.35 ERA, 66 K’s and opponents are hitting .158.

Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Lutjen knows that this game will come down to a pitchers dual.

“You know that Paige Compton and Olivia Lugar matchup that we’ve seen for three or four years now, it is a very good one, it’s about as good as it gets in the state, especially in the area, and we’re two of the best teams in the region, so when we get together it’s going to be a great game,” Lutjen said.

Mid-Prairie will host Durant tonight with first pitch at 7:30, and you can hear this game on under radio plus with pregame at 7 and first pitch at 7:30. This game will also be delayed broadcast on AM and FM KCII following the Washington game. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is
