Two Vehicle Wreck on 218

Posted: Friday, June 28th, 2013 at 12:40 pm

A two vehicle wreck occurred shortly before noon Friday.

A semi and a four-door Volkswagen collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 218 shortly before noon today. Both vehicles came to rest in the median approximately 1.5-miles north of G36, near mile marker 72. It is unsure at this time if injuries were incurred. Traffic was reduced to one lane in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 218, causing traffic to slow for some time.

Washington Ambulance, Riverside Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.

Musical in Washington This Weekend

Posted: Friday, June 28th, 2013 at 6:26 am

The Washington Community Theater is presenting a musical this weekend titled “Into the Woods” written by Stephen Sondheim. Director Don Hughes explains that it connects four fairy tails – Rapunzel, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood. While it is full of fairy tails, Hughes does advise that it may not be suited for the 10 and under crowd, as it is complex. The show is being held at the Washington Community Center tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
