On the brink of their first state tournament berth in school history the Mid-Prairie girls soccer team was stopped one win short when they fell to Iowa City Regina Monday night 4-0. Unlike the first match up between the two teams that saw 14 combined goals the defenses dominated much of the game. Regina tallied first in the 24th minute when Lauren Ronnfeldt found the back of the net. The Regals doubled their lead when Jenny Wick made it 2-0 in the 34th minute, that’s where the score stood at the halftime break.

In the second half Mid-Prairie dropped back into a more defensive set but were unable to stop Regina or get the offense jump started as the Regals spent much of the night doubling Meghan and Kattie Redlinger. Ronnfeldt scored again for the Regals in the 56th minute and Tori Lust wrapped up the Regina scoring and the game with a 74th minute goal. With the loss Mid-Prairie ends their season at 11-6-1.
