The Washington County Riverboat Foundation has awarded nearly $225,000 for its 2013 second quarter municipal grants. Administrative Assistant Jim Logan explains that each year the foundation allocates 25-percent of its money annually to cities in Washington County. The cities are allowed to use this money in any way they see fit. The nine cities awarded grants are Ainsworth, Brighton, Coppock, Crawfordsville, Kalona, Riverside, Washington, Wellman and West Chester.

Listed below are the cities and the grants awarded this quarter, followed by the total for 2013 and the total money since inception:

Ainsworth – $9,306.81; $17,706.09 for 2013; $222,029.09 total
Brighton – $10,697.23; $20,351.34 for 2013; $276,970.41 total
