Washington and Fairfield Softball Play Crucial Southeast Conference Double Header

The Washington Demon softball team plays an important game tonight against Fairfield.

Both teams have just two losses in the conference, and Washington will travel to their diamond this time.

Washington is 12-4 this season, coming off their tournament win this weekend. They are hitting .351, with Kaitlin Buchholz taking over the top spot with a .490 average and 13 RBI’s, with Ashley Rausch in tow with a .447 average and 20 RBI’s, tied with Stephanie Fishback for the team lead.

Pitching wise, Washington has a team ERA of 2.12 with 70 strikeouts, and opponents are hitting over .220.

Fairfield is 17-3, and after being swept by Washington earlier in the season, came back and beat them in the championship game of their home tournament. The Trojans are hitting .314 as a team and are led by Kenady Waugh with a .403 average and 14 RBI’s, and right behind her is Marisa Repp with a .371 average and 18 RBI’s.

On the pitching side they have a team ERA of just 1.42 and 76 strikeouts to 14 walks. Haley Grunwald has a .071 ERA through 59 1/3 innings.
