A plan of action regarding the report presented by the Housing Task Force was discussed at last night’s Washington City Council meeting. The report covered nuisance abatement, enhancing neighborhood pride, landlord responsibility, housing stock improvement and comments from the public. Last night the council showed interest in strengthening current code and increasing enforcement, such as the junk vehicle guidelines.

Mayor Sandra Johnson says she would like to promote community pride and neighborhood enhancement, including volunteer efforts.

Councilman Fred Stark agreed saying that enhancing neighborhood pride is economical, boosts morale, is likely to have the least amount of red tape and it gets citizens involved in their community.
