Washington County’s unemployment numbers increased slightly from May to June. It increased from 3.2-percent to 3.7-percent, but is still below 2012’s June rate of 4.3-percent. Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for both May and June was 4.6-percent. Keokuk County’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.7-percent, as did Iowa County’s to 4.6-percent and Johnson County’s to 3.9-percent. Louisa County increased by more than one percent from 4.2-percent to 5.3-percent. Other area counties’ unemployment rates for June include: Jefferson 5.8-percent and Henry 5.6-percent.
