The Washington softball team plays for a conference championship tonight against Ft. Madison.

The Demons were in a similar situation last year, where the deciding game went down to the final games of the season, the biggest difference is that it is all in the Demons hands tonight.

With Fairfield dropping a game to Keokuk and Ft. Madison, a sweep would give the Demons an outright Southeast Conference Championship, while a split would give them the share with Fairfield.

Washington is 25-10 this season and is hitting .353, with the top four in the lineup all hitting over .400 on the year and led by the bat of Buchholz and her .475 average.

Ashley Rausch and Maddie Bohr are the two top pitchers and have a shared ERA of 1.91 and 121 strikeouts, but Amber Linnenkamp is willing and able to come in in relief for either of them and throw some good innings, with just a 2.13 ERA.

Ft. Madison is 13-21 this season and hitting .263 as a team, but has shown that they came compete, going 12 innings with Washington earlier in the season and stealing a win. Their top bat is Kayla Culbertson with a .398 average and 16 RBI’s, and right behind her is Kaylin Featheringill with a .373 average and 29 RBI’s.

Pitching wise for the Bloodhounds, Lexi Schmidt and Jaycee Pumphrey are the only two with a combined ERA of 3.63 and 107 K’s on the year, opponents are hitting just under .290.
