The Demon baseball team had their season ended last night by Fairfield, losing the game 5-2.

Washington started with Tanner Knupp on the mound, but he only lasted 1 1/3 innings, as the Trojans scored three runs off of him in his time on the mound.

In the first inning, the Demons had two outs on two hitters, but then a walk, a hit batter, and a ball that got through the legs of  Demon comes back to give Fairfield a 1-0 lead. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the second, after a single by Jordan Reid, Jordan Whitley was hit by a pitch and a two RBI double by Spencer Peterman made it 3-0 and that was the end of Knupp’s day, going 1 1/3, giving up four hits, three runs, all earned, walking one and hitting two.

Elijah Wood came in in relief and closed things down pretty nicely on Fairfield. Washington got on the board in the third cutting down the Trojan’s lead to one, after Dakota Kron got a lead off single in the third, a double by Quigley put them both into scoring position, and then a two RBI double by Tanner Knupp made the score 3-2, but that is the closest the Demons got.

Fairfield put two more across with one in the fifth and sixth inning to make the final 5-2.
