Washington County’s own Jim Frier will be inducted into the 2013 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame at the Iowa State Fair next month. For 32 years, Frier served as Washington County Extension Director, from 1960 to 1992. During his tenure, 4-H in Washington County reached its highest membership at approximately 800 members.

Also, he introduced some things that are still part of the local fair, including: horse trail performance class, bucket bottle calf project, carcass evaluation for beef and swine, the rooster crowing contest, and special project meetings.

He will be recognized at 3:30 p.m. on August 18th at the 4-H Exhibits Building.
