Senator Chuck Grassley believes that a Farm Bill can still be approved before the September 30th deadline. He says that the House of Representatives will have to do one of three things: they could pass the Senate bill, they could reconsider their vote and change their bill, or they could go to conference with the Senate and work out a compromise.
Grassley says that he believes the previous bill was defeated due to food stamp provisions and not because of farm policy.
If a new Farm Bill or extension is not agreed upon by deadline, then the 1949 Farm Bill is reinstated.
