The Highland softball team continues their playoff run tonight, when they host West Branch is the semifinals.

The Huskies beat Cardinal 4-1 in the last round to get the win and move on.

Highland is 31-3 this year, and their only loses have come to No. 1 in 4A, 3A and tough loss to North Cedar-Stanwood. They are hitting .368 as a team, and their lead bat is Paige Wieland with a .465 average and 16 RBI’s, but there are three other players who are hitting over .400 and three of them are over .440. The arm for Highland is Katie Springer who has been phenomenal this year, with a 27-2 record, 1.50 ERA in 181 2/3 innings pitched, 197 strikeouts and opponents are hitting just .171 off of her and she is just a sophomore.

West Branch is 14-19 this year and hitting .311, their best bat is Shannon Laing who is hitting .528 on the year with 43 RBI’s and eight homeruns. Their top arm is Mary Baldwin with a 9-15 record, 88 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .261 off of her.
