A video contest for teenagers is being held this month to encourage awareness of health insurance for teens by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Teens who live in Iowa can participate by submitting a 90 second video telling their story about why health insurance is important to them.

IDPH Community Consultant Sylvia Petersen, who is coordinating the contest, says, “We hope this contest will encourage them to take another look at their lives – are they able to manage a chronic illness? Afford other things because they do not have unexpected medical bills? Are they able to play sports? These are all reasons to have health insurance and there are many more.”

The videos, which can be a scene acted out, music video or rap, or a testimonial, are due by July 31st and winners will be announced during the Health Insurance for Teens Week, August 11th through 17th. Prizes will be awarded to the top videos. For more information and contest rules click here.
