Area Master Gardeners planted more than 100 plants at the fairgrounds last week. The Washington County Master Gardeners landscaped around the historic Johnson polygonal barn. The barn, which was originally south of Wellman, was moved to the fairgrounds late last year and reconstruction was recently completed – this project was conducted with a grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Also, the group spent hours weeding and mulching the garden in front of the historic school house, the 1894 Railroad Depot, the cement planters and the gardens around the Extension building.

For more information on the Master Gardener program contact the Extension office. A Master Gardener class will be held starting in September.
