Mid-Prairie softball is back in Regional playoff action tonight when they host Mt. Vernon in round two.

The Golden Hawks were 17-1 winners over Columbus Junction in the first round, and beat Mt. Vernon 10-0 already once this year.

Mid-Prairie is hitting. 320 as a team, and continues to be led at the plate by Felicia Schulty with a .455 average, behind her is five different Golden Hawks who are hitting over .300 on the year, and three more who are hitting just under .300. Olivia Lugar and Taylor Kurtz are still the pitching duo for the team with 2.11 combined ERA, 125 strikeouts and opponents hitting .270.

Mt. Vernon is 24-14 this year and beat Williamsburg 6-3 to get here. They are hitting .334 as a team. Their best bat is Hannah Whitley with a .443 average and 36 RBI’s on the year. Michaela Martin is also hitting above .400 at .416 with 15 RBI’s. Three other players are hitting over .300.

The best arm for Mt. Vernon is Marissa Roe with a 3.37 ERA and 39 strikeouts, but it could be one of three arms that the Golden Hawks see.
