Mid-Prairie Softball Plays Ranked First Round Game of State

The Mid-Prairie softball team plays their first game at the state softball tournament in Fort Dodge today.

The Golden-Hawks ran through regional play only giving up a run a game in three games, and will play New Hampton in round one.

Mid-Prairie is 30-10 this year, and ranked No. 3 in the state. They are hitting .317 as a team and are still led by the ever consistent bat of Felicia Schulty with a .437 average, 47 RBI’s and six homeruns. Five other Golden Hawks are hitting over .300. Pitching has been a dual job for both Olivia Lugar and Taylor Kurtz all season, but Lugar has thrown the more innings this playoff with a 15-6 record, 1.92 ERA and 79 strikeouts this season.

No. 14 New Hampton is 27-9 this season and hitting .379 as a team. They closed out their season with a 14 game winning streak. Their top bat is Raelyn Webster with a .476 average, 41 RBI’s and nine homers on the year. In the circle it is Jessicia Crooks with a 20-7 record, 1.95 ERA and 90 strikeouts.
