The Mid-Prairie softball team starts their post-season tonight when they play Columbus Junction in the first round.

Mid-Prairie is the Cedar Valley Champions coming into the tournament, and finished the regular season at 27-10, and hitting .316 as a team. Felicia Schulty has been the top bat for most of the season, with a .450 average and 42 RBI’s, she sits fourth in class 3A in RBI’s.

The pitching staff has been more of a shared job this year with Olivia Lugar and Taylor Kurtz getting about equal innings. Combined they have a 2.14 ERA, 123 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .271 off of them.

Columbus Junction finished the regular season at 13-22 and hitting .289. Caitlin Chaney was the top hitting player for the Wildcats with a .420 average and 15 RBI’s on the year, while on the pitching staff it was Megan Pretz who threw 116 innings on the year, with a 3.50 ERA and 106 strikeouts.
