Mid-Prairie Travels to Wapello for District Final Against Mediapolis

The Mid-Prairie baseball team plays for a district championship tonight against Mediapolis at Wapello.

Mid-Prairie beat the top seeded Wapello 4-3 to get into the title game, while Mediapolis had a first round bye, and beat West Burlington 6-5 to get here.

The Golden Hawks are 11-25 this year and hitting .241. Their best hitter is Spencer Shalla with a .309 average and 14 RBI’s. Pitching wise the Golden Hawks have had four days off, which means they can probably go back to their top pitchers in Jonas Coblentz who has a 3.09 ERA and 67 strikeouts, or they can go Spencer Shalla with a 2.44 ERA and 52 strikeouts.

Mediapolis is 16-8, and their team is hitting .286. Their top hitter is Josh Osborne with a .421 average and 14 RBI’s, and behind him is Jordan Wagenbach and Forestt Stellern, both with over .300 averages and each with five homeruns on the year. On the mound Wagenbach is the best arm with a 1.97 ERA and 62 strikeouts with opponents hitting .219 off of him.
