The 9th annual Pride of Iowa contest had six groups of 4-H’ers providing food samples to fair goers at the Washington County Fair. Each contestant, or team of contestants, prepares a recipe with at least one ingredient that is representative of Iowa to help raise awareness of products made in the state. Some of the entries included breakfast deviled eggs, bacon wrapped pork loin, rhubarb punch and jalapeno chicken. This year owner of JP’s 207, Jaron Rosien judged the contest and awarded Kaitlin Hora of the Jackson Jets the judge’s choice trophy.
