It was a long night that ended early for the Mid-Prairie softball team Wednesday in Solon as they fell by a 10-0 score in 5 innings. Solon began the scoring with a pair of runs in the first inning on a two out, two RBI double from Riley Ogden. The same situation in the second inning put the Spartans up 4-0 when Kara Misel delivered a two out, two RBI double. The Spartans also dominated defensively behind starter Miranda Hochstedler. Hochstedler recorded a no-hitter against the Mid-Prairie offense, with only an error by shortstop Mallory Madsen in the fifth spoiling a perfect game.

In the fourth Solon put the contest out of reach with four runs including a three run opposite field homer from catcher Ali Herdliska taking the score to 8-0. The Spartans pushed across their last two runs of the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Madsen and on Mid-Prairie’s fourth error of the night. Hochstedler got the win with her no-hitter, allowing no walks and recording one strike out. Olivia Lugar took the loss for Mid-Prairie going four innings, allowing 10 hits, eight runs, four of them earned, walking four and striking out two. All nine Solon players in the starting line up recorded a hit on the night and seven of the nine scored at least one run. Solon improves to 34-2 on the year while Mid-Prairie falls to 27-8 on the season. The Golden Hawks will next be in action Friday morning at 11AM when they host Wilton in a make up conference contest.
