A letter is being sent to residents of Richmond and Rubio regarding the sanitary sewer projects from the Washington County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Jack Seward said at Tuesday’s meeting that the board is still awaiting the response from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources regarding the date change for the deadline on the projects. The new letter states that local progress is underway with approximately 35 systems in Richmond beign pumped and nearly a dozen projects are set to begin. However, the work has not commenced because contractors are concerned that requirements may change when a new county sanitarian is hired and homeowners are looking to see if there are lower interest rates, grants or other assistance opportunities.
