As school begins, students at Lincoln and Ainsworth elementary schools will be harvesting vegetables from their gardens. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health states the Obesity Prevention Taskforce wanted to develop vegetable gardens for youth at area schools. The taskforce teamed up with the principals at the schools and established the gardens, which were planted this past spring. Students planted, weeded, and are now harvesting the gardens.
The projects were also incorporated into the schools’ curriculum.
