Like other districts in the area, and across the Midwest, Mid-Prairie let students out two hours early yesterday. Superintendent Mark Schneider says the decision came down to the safety of students. The Middle School and Washington Township Elementary don’t have air conditioning.  He explains it’s a goal of the districts to change that, and they’ve gotten some estimates. A geothermal system at the middle school would cost $2.8 million, and the estimate for air conditioning at the elementary school came in at $200,000.
