A change to how school officials react to intruders is being considered at Columbus Community School District. According to Superintendent Marlene Johnson, with an update to their crisis plan expected in December, they’re looking at the ALICE program. She says the training involved gives teachers more options when protecting students from intruders.

Adoption of ALICE doesn’t require approval from the school board, but Johnson says she would like to have their support before moving forward with it.
