The Columbus Junction Cross County team is having their second annual fundraising runs this summer starting with the first of two tonight.

The run is being held at the Chinkapin Bluffs recreation area, with a three mile run on the grass hills, and a kids run on the gravel path.

The run starts at 5:30 tonight with registration at 4:30.

Columbus Junction head cross country coach Steve Riley says this is just the second year doing it, but last years runs were a big success.

“We get good turn out, it raises money for our program, it’s just kind of a fun way of doing it,” Riley said. “I like it as a fundraiser because it is not the typical going to sell pizza, or cookie dough to people, I think people get tired of those kinds of fundraisers, this is one that actually involved the activity that we do, and people who want to donate money get to meet our runners, and I just think it is a good thing.”

The entry fee is five dollars, and all money goes to the Columbus Cross Country program.

There is a second run being held on August 13th, and if you have any questions call coach Riley at 319-217-0130.
