Separate bid lettings are planned for the two portions of work on Highway 1.According to Tim Ehrich, District 5 Construction Engineer, they’ll resurface the road from Highway 92 to Highway 22, and will also work on the bridge that crosses the English River. A bid letting for that work has been scheduled for October 15th, with work being done around mid-November 2014.

The bid letting for the other portion, from 22 up to the 218 interchange in Iowa City, will be held in March or April . District 6 Construction Supervisor, Newman Abuissa, says their portion should be done by next fall.

Jason Huddle, Iowa DOT Field Services Coordinator, reports it will be a few months before they know if detours will be necessary.
