A hearing was held at last night’s Washington City Council meeting regarding a building deemed dangerous by the city’s building and zoning official and police department. The owner of the building, John Heal of Marengo requested the hearing but was not present.
Police Officer Ron See provided testimony regarding the search warrant executed at 322 North D Avenue in March. During the search, authorities found methamphetamine labs and the level of public hazard was deemed extreme. The building is now in quarantine, as the owner is reponsible for clean up of the property before people will be allowed to use the building again.
The City Council agreed on the preliminary determination to affirm the action of the building and zoning official and final decision will be made at the council’s next meeting.
