Before the softball all-state awards are handed out, the Washington Demons had some state honors that came early.
Sammy Ellingson was the lone area and Washington player to be in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State team.
Maddie Bohr was nominated and played on the IGCA All-Star Softball team and game, and Joni Erwin was selected for the State Softball All-Tournament team. Erwin was 5-10 at the state tournament, with three RBI’s a triple and a run scored.
Bohr talked to KCII about her all-star game experience.
“Playing in the all-star game was a really fun way to end the season, because it’s an honor to be chosen to play with the best girls in the state, and our team was an awesome team, had a bunch of loaded girls and we won both games, and it was fun to be able to play with those girls and stay in the hotel with them and get to know some of the best players in Iowa,” Bohr said.
