The Washington Demon baseball team had one player make the 3A All-Southeast Iowa district baseball team.
Elijah Wood was chosen for the team with his 3-2 record, 1.54 ERA, 73 strikeouts and holding opponents to hitting just .169.
Demon head coach Nathan Miller said Wood is a good arm that should lead the team next year on the mound.
“Record wise, does not indicate the success that he had on the field, he ended up with 73 strikeout for the year, which is a tremendous amount of strikeouts for a season, and we look forward to him coming back next year and really leading the pitching staff,” Miller said.
Wood will be a senior next year, and was chosen for first team all-conference this year as well.
