The Carson and Barnes Circus which visited Washington yesterday, also established a non-profit organization for Asian Elephants. Chip Arthurs, elephant trainer with Carson and Barnes, says that the Endangered Ark Foundation for Asian elephants in Hugo, Oklahoma, has about 26 elephants at this time and has a breeding population, which has had four successful births.

Asian elephants are on the endangered species list now and cannot be imported or exported.

Arthurs shares that the elephants have similar life spans to humans, and like people each has a different personality. He also says that the elephants retire to the facility.
