Kirkwood’s Washington Center is offering free English as a Second Language courses this fall for adults in the community. Tera Pickens, Director of the Washington Center, explains that the program is free for adults and is offered at two levels – beginner and advanced.

Pickens also says that there is a need for the program in Washington County, because approximately 9-percent of residents, which equals nearly 2,000 residents, age 5 or older speak a language other than English at home.

The course will meet every Monday and Wednesday evening beginning September 9th and ending December 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is being held on August 26th, 28th or September 5th.
