After getting rained out a few times this spring, the Washington County Master Gardeners were able to make it to the Ciha Fen Preserve this week. Master Gardener Kay Ciha’s cousin-in-law Howard owned the land, before it was acquired by Johnson County Conservation and opened to the public last fall. Kay says the area features sand prairies, bog-like fens, and an Oak savannah.

She adds the Washington County Master Gardeners take trips throughout the year. Most recently, the group went to a nursery in Wisconsin.
